OFÍCIO do governador das ilhas de Cabo Verde, Joaquim Salema de Saldanha Lobo, ao [secretario de estado da Marinha e Ultramar] Martinho de Melo e Castro informando que remete duas devassas mandadas tirar na ilha Brava e uma justificação, relativas aos requerimentos com queixas e abonação dos presos que tinha enviado para a Corte e que tinham ficado para serem deferidos, também pelo novo ouvidor geral, [João Gomes Ferreira], sendo a primeira tirada por Manuel Gonçalves de Carvalho, um dos cinco presos, e pelo capitão e sargento-mor da ilha do Fogo, Marcelino José Jorge Henriques, em nome e por ordem do governo interino da Câmara da [ilha de Santiago] pelo que adverte sobre a lisura e parcialidade das mesmas, e a segunda mandada tirar por sua ordem pelo sargento-mor da ilha [de Santiago], José dos Reis Borges, natural do Reino; comunicando as causas que concorreram para a prisão dos referidos presos enviados para a Corte, do conluio que os envolveu com o primeiro administrador da Companhia Geral de [Grão] Pará [e Maranhão], Maurício José da Silva Cardoso, e pedindo que não os deixassem retornar àquelas ilhas, principalmente, Manuel Gonçalves de Carvalho; e sobre os motivos por que requeria que se tirasse sua residência, no tempo conveniente, por qualquer ministro.
