OFÍCIO do governador de Cabo Verde, D. António Coutinho de Lencastre, ao [secretário de estado dos Negócios Estrangeiros e da Guerra], conde das Galveias [D. João de Almeida de Melo e Castro], sobre: chegada de 2 franceses à ilha de Maio, um comandante da tropa que guarnece o Senegal, M. Millet e outro seu ajudante, M. Menard, que tinham saído de França para os Estados Unidos da América; foram considerados prisioneiros, atendendo ao estado de guerra entre as duas nações, tendo sido obrigados a entregar todos os seus papéis e os seus baús, para serem revistados; procedeu-se a um Conselho de Guerra, de que remete cópia; foi pedido ao almirante Sind Emit, que aqui aportou, que levasse os 2 prisioneiros para a capital, a fim de S.A.R. lhe desse o destino que lhe aprouver; espera aprovação das medidas tomadas.
