OFÍCIO do governador de Cabo Verde, António Pusich, ao [secretário de estado da Marinha e Ultramar], conde dos Arcos [D. Marcos de Noronha e Brito], a informar da entrada no porto de uma escuna armada, com bandeira espanhola, de nome Avoador, cujo mestre é D. António Masson, vinda do porto de Havana, dizendo que ia para o comércio da escravatura; sendo as suas manobras suspeitas, pois vinha dando caça desde o canal da ilha do Maio, a um bergantim português de nome Zefiro, cujo mestre é Victor Nobre de Brito, proveniente de Lisboa para Cabinda; informa que examinou escrupulosamente os seus papéis e achando que não eram legais, a mandou deter e entregou à justiça ordinária da ilha, para que com a assistência do sargento-mor, Manuel António Martins e António Vautrain, ambos homens marítimos e muito práticos no comércio, procedessem ao rigoroso exame de todos os papéis, guarnição e carga da mencionada escuna; o resultado foi sentençiá-la, declarando-a confiscada e remetendo o auto do processo e demais papéis.
